Dragging Items in the Repository

You can move or add documents in the repository by dragging the items. You can move multiple documents or folders by dragging the items to other locations.

In the Browse view, you can drag items from the tree to the content list and from the content list to the tree. You can drag documents, but not folders, to anywhere in the Browse view or onto the search results area.

It matters where you drag to add a document. Dragging a document to various areas leads to the following results:

Restriction: Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 9 does not support dragging content from your file system into ECS.

To drag a file:

1.      From the Home View screen, left click the Browse View button in the top left column. The list of folders in the repository appears.

2.      Highlight the file in your system that you wish to add to the repository.

3.      Hover over the highlighted file and depress and hold the left mouse button down, then move the mouse over the repository folder in ECS where you wish to add the file.

4.      Release the left mouse button to “drop” the file in the new location. An Entry Template appears.

Note: Required fields in the General section are auto-filled by the template.

Note: Required items in the Properties section are indicated with a red asterisk.

5.      Enter the appropriate information in all required fields. The Add option in the lower right corner changes from gray to white.

6.      Left click the Add option. The document is added to the folder specified in the entry template.
